Translations Panel
Multi-lingual modeling lets users translate the metadata that appears in content items (reports, dashboards, publications etc.) as tables, columns, measures, hierarchies, etc.
Configure Multi-Lingual Models
Configure multi-lingual models from the Translations panel.
- Language: The selected languages appear in the multi-select Languages drop down (yellow box below). Additional languages can be selected from the drop down.
- Filter: The filter (blue box below) allows users to select from the different types of metadata (Global, Tables, and Measures) to limit the items to be translated, so users can define the metadata for each metadata type separately. The "All" option displays all metadata types together.
- Global option:The Global metadata option (blue box below) is used to define the translations for model name, description, and other global labels (red box below). Users must define the labels for all the languages in the specified language column (green box below)
Note: this feature is available with an Enterprise edition license only.
- Tables option:The Tables metadata option (blue box below) allows users to define translations for the tables and columns and their descriptions. By selecting "All" (red box below) users can translate all tables and columns (green box below) at once, or they can select a table name to translate all columns for a specific table.
- Measures option:the Measures metadata option (blue box below) allows users to define translations for the measure folders, and the measures and descriptions for the tables (green box below). By selecting "All" (red box below) users can translate all measures and folders at once, or they can select a table to translate all measures for a specific table. Formulas can be translated using the translate source feature in Formulate.
Note: The default language tables must be checked in the model in order to be translated.
